Dr. Mansour met and conferred with Dr. Alireza Abbasi, MP of Karaj from Alborz province and the member of the Commission on Agriculture, Water and Natural Resources of the Parliament about natural resources issues.

The representative of Karaj, Fardis and Eshtehard on Sunday, in a meeting with Head of the FRWO, explaining the geographical situation of Alborz province, mentioned closely related phenomena of drought and desertification as two main problems for the province and said: " If the phenomenon of desertification is not confronted by taking basic measures, it will also affect the capital of the country."

According to FRWO's website, in a meeting held at FRWO Headquarters on Monday, Dr. Alireza Abbasi, representative of Karaj, Fardis and Eshtehard, referring to the existence of two huge dams in Alborz province that supply drinking water to Tehran, Qazvin and Alborz, considered the implementation of Integrated Watershed Management (IWM) projects as a basic solution to prevent soil erosion, sedimentation and reduce flood damage, and called for the implementation of watershed management measures in upstream of these dams.

In this meeting, they shared their views on the country’s natural resources management. Referring to the vital role of natural resources in the sustainable development of the country, they promised to pay special attention to the natural resources sector in the Seventh Development Plan.

In this meeting, representative of Karaj, Fardis and Eshtehard in the Islamic Consultative Assembly further referred to the water problem in Fardis city and asked the Head of FRWO to contribute to solving this problem. 

Head of FRWO in this meeting called the capability of Alborz province very high and noted: "Due to the population density in the province, the importance of protecting natural resources is doubled".

Dr. Mansour said that the completion of the cadastre mapping and identification and demarcation of the forest reserves boundaries is another area of priority of FRWO as two of the nine priority area of FRWO and emphasized: " FRWO will use all its capacities to develop natural resources, especially the forests and rangelands of Alborz province."

Based on this report, on the sidelines of this meeting, Alireza Abbasi visited the Museum and Permanent Exhibition of Natural Resources opened at FRWO Headquarters.
